On Saturday August 19th and Sunday August 20th I will be a vendor and panelist at Minnesota FanFest here in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The event is a mixture of genres; from comic books and science fiction, to fantasy and horror. Looking at the guest and vendor list released by the con, literally every scale of storytelling is represented. I’ll be there selling my books and doing a few panels. This is my first time at this event so I have no idea what to expect, but I’m very excited. That’s my face at the end of the graphic. For some reason taking an author photo is synonymous with looking like you’re staring at a pretty lake outside a nearby window.

I will mostly be at my table for the event, but I’ll also be doing a few panels. Here is my schedule for presentations at the event:
12:00 – 1:00 pm, Science Fiction vs Fantasy Debate, Panel Room 11
3:00 – 4:00 pm, Game of Thrones, Panel Room 12
6:00 – 7:00 pm, Dark Tower, Panel Room 12
1:30 – 2:30, Geek Family Values, Panel Room 12
From just communicating with the staff running the con, this is one of the most organized events I’ve ever been included in. They’ve gone to great lengths to communicate with vendors, which bodes well for the event being entertaining and unique. You’d be surprised how often communication is a barometer for quality, especially with conventions. Minnesota Fan Fest takes place at the RiverCentre in downtown Saint Paul. If you decide to visit the event there are dozens of awesome places to eat, including Shamrocks, which has been featured on Diners, Driveins, and Dives. They have an amazing Juicy Lucy. There is plenty to explore in downtown Saint Paul besides the event. The science museum is right across the street. They have some amazing dinosaurs to look at. They also have this mind-bending illusion room. It’s zany.
Hope to see you this weekend!
