Ramblings 9/7

  • They’re on the trees. They’re on the ground. Don’t go far. Don’t go long. They’re always watching. They’re always waiting. Do not stop, but do not wander. Bring them gifts. Bring them more. And they should let you live. If not, just give them more. — That is a working tagline for a new serialized story I’m launching on my blog in the next month or so, probably in time for Halloween. Been wanting to write this particular version of a monster for quite a while, and life is short, so why the heck not. More info coming soon.
  • I’ll do a more promotionally post closer to the end of the week, but I’m going to be at Crypticon Minneapolis here next weekend. I won’t be there the entire time. Friday night and Saturday to be specific. Love this event. Excited to be there.
  • I want to learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons. I have a guidebook, I just need a quest or character sheets, or, yeah, I don’t know what I need. Any tips anyone on where I can get educated on this? Some clues would be great before I wander down the deep YouTube rabbit hole.
  • Some movement on our podcast Hidden Oaks this week. Pushing ahead with production and everything else. Hoping for a Halloween release of season three, but we’ll see. This season is going to be the best yet, but we might drift down to biweekly release of the episodes, because a ton of work is going into them. Stay tuned.
  • Another paraphrased quote from Ray Bradbury’s Zen and the Art of Writing: “If I stop writing today, I notice. If I stop writing tomorrow, a critic notices. If I stop writing the next day, my audience notices.” Again, that is paraphrased, and I’m too lazy to google if it is right, but great advice nonetheless. I find this to be particularly true. I notice if I stop writing for a day. It is a forever craft.
  • Angry Beavers was a cutting edge television show for the 90’s Saturday morning cartoon fair. The social commentary, the absurdity, the easter eggs, all of it was pretty much  great. There are at times where it weirds me out, but that goes for all great Nickelodeon cartoons. Highly recommend. Enjoy watching it with my boys.
  • Have a safe and healthy week everyone. I hope you enjoy school starting despite the apocalypse. I know I’m a nervous wreck of a father over it, but what else is new? Take care and thank you for supporting my work.
