Ramblings 6/21

  • I wanted to put the first part of Erasmus on a Monday one time before it permanently switched to Saturdays. So yeah, the next post, or Erasmus: Part Two, will appear on Saturday, June 26th. It’ll be my weekend serialized story from this point forward. It is a good one. Really unique perspective for the Greenland Diaries. You can visit the story page to get caught up on part one.
  • I’ll be writing these ramblings on Father’s Day weekend. Being a father is pretty much the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I wish I could have more kids in fact, but my wife’s body can’t handle it anymore. I’m hoping I become more financially stable in the next decade so we can explore adoption if possible. My wife went through the foster system and knows how important it is to have supportive people in that environment. That being said, fatherhood at the onset had been extremely difficult for me. I was woefully underprepared for it. I did not prepare financially, physically, or emotionally. I had to muddle through it. I still am in a lot of ways. I do believe nothing can perfectly prepare you for it, but I do also think you can get ready for some things, and you should educate yourself about the process.
  • The first ten days of The Greenland Diaries are up for your reading pleasure. They’ll keep appearing every Thursday. It’ll get you primed and ready for the fifth book coming this fall.
  • Going off that Father’s Day rambling, I do think one thing that set me back big time when it came to fatherhood was the vast amount of trauma I had experienced in my past. When I became a dad I couldn’t hide from it anymore or ignore it, especially because I instantly wanted to protect my kids from anything similar. I went through a terrible relationship with an abusive partner. I was emotionally abused as a child. I had been bullied for most of my life. All of it comes to the forefront when you have children, even if you don’t realize it. That shouldn’t stop you, but knowing it exists gives you a little more readiness.
  • I’m going to start a new page/post/category thing on here called “Explanations” where I go through parts of my writing, art, and other stuff that relates to these stories and explain some of the inspirations behind them. I’ll be publishing these things in intervals with Days 1 – 100, so it might be biweekly as I share more Greenland Diaries diary entries. Still working through the process and what I want it to be.
  • Wife and I have burned through a bunch of HBO Max shows since becoming subscribers. Mare of Easttown, Sharp Objects, Curb your Enthusiasm, and currently Succession. All have been fantastic.
  • Recently recorded a little Q and A for Hidden Oaks, the horror podcast I’m currently cowriting and created the monster for, which will hopefully come out in another week or so. Now is a perfect time to catch-up on the series while we’re between seasons. Hidden Oaks. Hidden Oaks. Hidden Oaks.
  • Preorders for book five of the Greenland Diaries will be going up soon. If you preordered the Eye in the Lace, you do get a free copy of it. I have not forgotten.
  • FF7 Intergrade for PS5 is as amazing as I thought it would be. What an awesome remake. Replaying the whole entire thing again so I can get more of the summons and whatnot. The battle system is as fun as it was before. I can’t help but think of all the people who worked so hard on remaking this game and all the amazing details. Thank you.
  • I hope everyone has a safe and healthy week. Thank you for reading my work and for supporting me. Be well!
